Gelatin Art

A friend gave this to me and now I want to make my own.

She gave me the recipe when I attended a class she was teaching at her house on how to make these. It's in spanish but I will translate for you.

For clear gelatin she has the recipe printed as:

4 cups of water

2 1/2 Tablespoons  unflavored gelatin

1 cup sugar

1 Tablespoon of a clear flavor extract

1/4 teaspoon citric acid

********************************************************************
In a bowl add 1 cup water then add 2 1/2 Tablespoons gelatin on top. Let gelatin absorb  water/hydrate.

Bring to a boil the remaining 3 cups of water. Take out of heat.

Add sugar, clear flavor extract, citric acid, and hydrated gelatin to the hot water and mix.

Let mixture cool down. When mixture is cool down pour mixture into a mold of your choice and refrigerate until gelatin is firm.

(Tip if you are going to use example a glass bowl as a MOLD rub a little bit of vegetable shorting on it. Wipe the bowl with paper towel clean. This will make it easier to unmold gelatin later.)

****************************************************************
To make the flower you need a milk gelatin:

2 cups water

1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz (395 grs)

2 1/2 Tablespoons unflavored gelatin

1 Tablespoon clear flavor extract

1 1/2 Tablespoons of Titanium Dioxide

You will need food coloring colors of your choice

*******************************************************************
In a bowl add 2 cups water add 2 1/2 Tablespoons unflavored gelatin on top let hydrate. When hydrated bring mixture to a boil. Take out of heat.

Add can of sweetened condensed milk, clear flavor extract, to hot water.

Take about 1/3 of mixture into a blender and add titanium dioxide to blend evenly.

Pour the mixture with the titanium dioxide into cups. How many cups depends on how many colors you will use.

Add food color of choice on each cup until you get the color you want.

You will need a syringe with needle to make flowers.

The remaining milk gelatin mixture WITHOUT the titanium dioxide can be used to cover up the work you make.

I found this video on youtube to give you an idea of how to make a flower. Sorry it's in spanish but I hope it helps. My friend uses the syringe to make the flowers only but some people use tools to make it easier to create. Link is below.

Hope this helps I don't know how to explain better.
